This is a portrait of Pharaoh Ahkenaten with his wife Nefertiti. His original name was Amenhotep IV, but he changed it to Ahkenaten to signify his change in religion to the Aten, or sun disk. The rays are coming down towards the royal family.

British archaeologist Howard Carter and his workmen discovered the tomb of King Tutankhamen in the Valley of the Kings in Egypt. The coffin was made out of solid gold and inside was the mummy of the boy-king Tutankhamen, preserved for more than 3,000 years. Most of these treasures are now housed in the Cairo Museum.
